When we talk about PR Versus Journalism here, they are two different domains completely.

Public Relations & Journalism is similar and in that, they strive to communicate with the target audience or public but their goals and aims are very different. Some people might think journalism & PR both are related to media so it’s the same thing but no journalism has its bliss & flaws whereas public relations has its bliss & flaws.

PR & Journalism are two different things. Well both the domains are indeed useful to each other when it’s about media release or covering stories etc.

PR creates brand awareness amongst the target audience. Public Relations consultants work to assess brand or a person, where it should consist of brand and make it known to public that is the utmost objective of a publicist.

There are different tools used to create awareness for the public.

They are as follows:

  • Social Media
  • Blogs
  • Podcast
  • Emails

And all of these costs to know like and trust factor.

PR is an excellent business that can enhance your life if you do it appropriately, but it can also give you a lot of trouble if you keep making the same errors. For example, it’s never easy to get journalists to open, click & love your email pitch, but especially so if you don’t do your job perfectly

The objective of public relations is to characterize your industry in a promising reasonable attitude. This can go aimlessly from demonstrating yourself in the demand to destruction custody. Incompatible publicity, your objective is not to spend opening in the media but to enlist the media to take a concern in your industry and to write or report on your business activities

When we talk about Journalism, Journalism has been known as the fourth estate.

Being a journalist most of them support democracy, create story & express them or convey them, we bring issues to the forefront of decision-makers. Journalism matters in all its form because unless you’re not informed you can’t make the right decisions because you won’t have all the information and we get this information through journalists.

Journalism is the bridge between what happens and what people do with that information. Holding truth to power is an important function of journalism.

In older times the act of writing & presenting news was limited to print & non-print mediums. Print mediums included magazines, newspapers & non-print includes television & radio with ever-evolving technology and the advent of internet journalism has not been limited to print radio & television but it has also shifted to digital mediums.

With the rise of the internet online journalism has paved its path to be the most crucial medium of the press as masses have easy access to digital platforms they can independently voice out opinions or publish information without the help of any publication. Online journalism consists of similar sections like print or non-print media apart.

A good journalist will not try to influence the opinions of their audience or if they do, they will ensure that they are either disclosing their interest or incorporating the other side of the story. Journalists should rely on facts rather than arguments or emotional appeals.

  1. Journalist serves the public where PR specialist serves the organisation that employs them regardless of what may be in the best of the public.
  1. Roles in the companies have different sections while at news organisations journalist has only one role that is to gather the news. Editors will edit, and reporters would report the news or story. Whereas PR professionals assist multiple domains and have different clients.
  1. The audiences vary & differs as well in Public Relations the audiences are targeted according to the content or the idea of it. For example, Teens love junk food so the target audience would be teens and not infants or oldies. On the other hand, journalism does not have target audiences they have acquired audiences. Journalists don’t need to target any audience because whatever story or news they would be publishing is of interest to the public.
  1. Journalists have more freedom of speech than PR. They are frequently looking for some stories or news & pitching ideas whereas PR professionals work for clients where they modify brands & articles to reach out to the target audience.
  1. When we talk about #PR #Public Relations is all about managing the positive image of the organisation or individual. If you venture into public relations then you can be an associate/executive; AM, Manager for servicing your respective client. You would be handling various beat (sector) approaching media, strategist, reaching to the media to share the story. When it comes to journalism it is all about how you present NEWS. A journalist has to have a sense of the news of the world.

To conclude each & every role is perfect in its way, just like a pizza is delicious in its way where a burger is amazing in its way we cannot eat pizza & say it taste like a burger no its features are quite different.
