Kick Your Feet Up and Celebrate with a Zingy Citrus Cocktail

For those of us who love a cocktail, circle March 24th on your calendar this year. It’s National Cocktail Day! Sour, spicy, fruity, sweet, blended, on the rocks or straight up, there is a flavor profile and taste sensation for each of us. Enjoyed responsibly, cocktails have a certain charm and elegance that never goes out of style.

Cocktails evolved from the classic British punches of the early 18th century, containing spirits, fruit juices and spices blended in a big bowl. There are several theories on the origin of the word “cocktail” including the American mispronunciation of the French word “coquetier” or “egg cup” derived from a New Orleans apothecary who served patrons a mix of brandy and bitters in egg cups. Or the term “cocktailings” used to describe a mixture created from tavern owners combining the dregs (“cocktailings”) of nearly empty oak barrels together to create a potent drink at a discounted price.

Either way, cocktails remain a special experience that elevates any drinking occasion.

This year, let’s toast to the cocktail with some specialty recipes that will give your cocktails some zing with an added kick of simple NON GMO True Citrus wedge replacements. Crystallized and made from real citrus with no artificial sweeteners, use the “wedge with the edge” to add a big fresh squeezed taste to your next tipple. Guaranteed to add more happy to your happy hour. Cheers!
