7 Tips to Choosing the Perfect Chandelier

When the idea of adding a chandelier hits, the first thing that comes to mind is the grand dining room. But there’s no reason why this hanging light fixture should be limited to one room. You can actually look for affordable modern chandeliers and use them in several places in your home as long as you know how to choose the right one and where to install it.

A chandelier, like any home accessory, is a reflection of your personality. That makes it easier for you to find one that suits your taste. Chandeliers add a touch of elegance to any room and choosing the perfect one can be quite the challenge. From the dining room to the living room, to the bedroom – here are 7 tips to help you find the perfect chandelier for your space.

1.   Measure Your Space

To start, you’ll want to measure the dimensions of the room where your new chandelier will hang. You’ll need to know the length, width and height of the room in order to determine what size fixture you should buy. To calculate the right size you’ll need, use this formula: Add the length and width of your room together (in inches) and convert that number into inches. For example, if your room measures 12 feet by 14 feet (144 inches by 168 inches), then you would multiply those numbers together (24,192) then divide that number by 12 (2,020). That means the ideal size chandelier would measure 2 feet in diameter (24 inches).Take a measurement of your space and know how much room you have for a chandelier. You want it to fit in nicely without being too big or too small.

2.   Think about scale

Chandeliers come in all shapes and sizes! Make sure you choose a chandelier that fits your space appropriately: if your dining room table is large, then you’ll want to choose a large chandelier; conversely, if you have a narrow hallway or entryway, you could use a small or medium-sized chandelier.

3.   Consider the style of your home

The style of chandelier should be consistent with the rest of the home’s décor. For example, if you have a modern farmhouse style home, then an ornate traditional chandelier would look out of place. If your furniture is more rustic and distressed, then consider an antique-style chandelier like our Florence Chandelier.

4.   Think About Functionality.

As stunning as they are, chandeliers can be quite the dust collector! If you have pets or if you are worried about cleaning, make sure you choose one that is easy to clean.

5.   Choose The Right Light Bulbs

Chandeliers can come with low energy light bulbs these days so make sure that if this is something that is important to you, check what type of light bulbs will be included.

6.   Know Your Style & Personality

Your home should reflect your personality so whether you like modern style or more traditional, make sure you choose a chandelier that compliments your style and makes you happy every time you walk into a room!

7.   Size matters

It’s not just about picking the prettiest design from the catalogue. A chandelier looks best when its size complements the space where it’s installed. For instance, if you have a large living room with high ceiling, then a big chandelier would look great in there. If you want it for your bedroom or bathroom, on the other hand, then you’d want something medium-sized or small depending on how big these rooms are.
