Dandruff is a common scalp condition that can affect a person’s hair health to a greater extent. Though it might seem harmless but can be damaging to your hair. I remember this incident shared by a friend of mine, who ended up damaging his hair follicles by excessively scratching his scalp due to dandruff and thus ended up with hair loss.

Though the condition was rare and he got a hair transplant after visiting the best hair surgeons in Islamabad, the incidence was scary. Dandruff can be problematic and this incident made me feel more uncomfortable about it. So, I started reading about the natural ways to treat dandruff.

How to Get Rid of Dandruff?

There could be many possible reasons for a dandruff attack. Dandruff flakes are nothing but your skin cells accumulation due to excessive oil production. This could be caused by a fungus overgrowth, dry skin, and a reaction to using skin products.

But thankfully, natural remedies were surely helpful in limiting my dandruff. Here I’m sharing some of these for your convenience.

1- Skip Oiling

It is often said that oiling a dandruff prone scalp is good but in contrast, it can promote your dandruff attack. The presence of oil on your scalp can boost the growth of yeast-like fungus that can be one prominent cause of your dandruff. So, skipping excessive oiling can surely help you to deal with the dandruff attack due to fungus.

2- Aspirin Might Help you

Another way to get rid of dandruff is to use aspirin. Aspirin is known as an NSAID and can help to fight the inflammation on scaly itchy skin. Aspirin can help to get rid of dandruff by losing the flakes. So you can apply crushed aspirin and add it to your regular shampoo before washing your hair.

3- Neem has Got your Covered

Neem is one of the natural antimicrobial agents that is efficiently used as a home remedy for hundreds of years. One application of neem says that it can be effective in treating dandruff. This is because of the neem’s ability to fight dandruff-causing fungus and keep the scalp clean. So, you can boil neem leaves in water and use that waste on your scalp. Furthermore, you can also choose the products containing neem to get rid of dandruff.

4- Apply Curd

Curd, known to be an effective probiotic, is also an effective remedy for dandruff. You can add a little bottle of sugar into it and apply curd to your scalp. While applying it, be mindful that crud application can be a bit messy but surely is an effective way to deal with dandruff attacks.

5- Use ACV (Apple Cider Vinegar)

ACV, usually found on your kitchen shelves is known to be a component of many home remedies. Talking about the prominent uses, ACV is a potential antimicrobial agent. This property of ACV also makes it a suitable agent to fight a dandruff attack. ACV only does it deters the growth of yeast-like fungus, but also treats the dry scalp. So, you can dilute ACV with water in a 1:1 ratio and apply it to your scalp.

6- Egg Yolk

Next in the list of natural remedies to treat dandruff is the use of egg yolk. Egg yolk is the essential component of egg and contains biotin that is a hair healthy vitamin capable of fighting dandruff. So, you can apply it to your scalp and wash it later to see changes in your dandruff level.
